Dear KIS Friends
Welcome to Kannapolis Intermediate School (KIS), Home of the Tigers! We are happy to have you with us and hope that you will find KIS to be a great place to learn and grow. Our goal is to provide a warm, welcoming environment, where students feel safe to take the necessary risks of becoming a successful, independent learner. It is difficult work being a 21st Century fifth and sixth grade student, and we want to provide our boys and girls with the necessary support to meet their individual needs.
Following are the KIS Mission and Vision statements. These statements reflect what we believe about school, teaching and learning. Beyond student safety, our utmost goal is to provide your child with a competitive, well rounded education.
Vision: Kannapolis Intermediate School: a place we want to be, a place to learn and grow, a place of value and respect.
Mission: Together we will connect, engage, and prepare our students for a diverse world.
Our School Motto is…. “Together, we will!” Together, we are creating the future!
At Kannapolis Intermediate School, we value academic success. We want our boys and girls to have the necessary knowledge and skills to compete in a global society. Technology has been a large focus for our school and students are afforded access to 21st Century tools for learning. We also rely heavily on small group instruction to meet the needs of individual learners, and we have a strong focus on literacy. This differentiated instruction also provides your child with the rigor and relevancy to meet the growing demands of the North Carolina Accountability system.
While academics are important, we also want our boys and girls to also understand the importance of showing good character and career ready skills. At KIS, we partner with the local Rotary Club to sponsor a character education program called the Early Act First Knight. This curriculum, set around chivalry and servitude modeled by Knights, is taught daily by our teachers. We celebrate students’ hard work, positive character and career readiness skills in quarterly knighting ceremonies.
If you should have specific questions regarding our core beliefs, philosophy or any other of our instructional or academic program, please feel free to contact the principal, Erik Johnson via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone at 704.932.4161.
