Hello My Name Is...
Welcome to Kannapolis Intermediate
Dear KIS families and visitors,
My name is Deana Lewis and I am the Assistant Principal of Instruction. Kannapolis is my hometown and I love this community. For me, working for Kannapolis City Schools is not a job; it is a way of life. I began my career at Jackson Park Elementary, where I was lucky enough to work alongside some of my former teachers. After six years, I moved across town to Fred L. Wilson and worked as the Reading Coach for seven years. KIS has been my home school since 2012, and I have loved serving the students, staff, and families for the last three years.
I feel privileged to walk through the doors at KIS each day as part of this staff and work with these students! There are wonderful things going on in our classrooms and new learning opportunities each day.
Feel free to contact me by email
or by school phone at (704) 932-4161.

I believe that a school is a partnership between students, parents, and teachers. While each participant holds the same importance, a successful school is child centered. If we do what is best for children, then what we do is best for all.
Things parents/guardians can do to help:
- Ask questions: If you ever have questions or concerns regarding your child, please talk to us! We are happy to listen and work with you to make your child's time at KIS successful!
- Help us help you: Please let us know how to better serve your family!
- Be active: Read information sent home from school, talk to your child's teachers, attend family nights and informational meetings.
- Be a partner: Work with us to achieve common goals.
