I am originally from the small town of Cleveland, North Carolina and attended college at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While at UNCC, I earned my bachelors in Elementary Education in 2009. After some substitute teaching and an interim position, I began my teaching career with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools at University Meadows Elementary where I taught third grade. In 2012 I moved to Shady Brook Elementary in Kannapolis where I taught fourth grade. While at Shady Brook I completed my Masters in Executive Leadership Studies at Gardner-Webb University. I'm ready for a new challenge this year and am excited about being the new literacy coach at KIS.
I believe that all children can be successful and it is my desire as an educator to help students meet their full potential. I believe it is important for students to have an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and promotes collaboration. I want to provide teachers and students with the tools necessary to be successful, lifelong learners.
