I believe that in today's world, technology is a critical life skill. We need our students to graduate with a firm understanding of how to access knowledge and adapt to changing job requirements.
Things parents/guardians can do to help:
- Be aware of what your child is doing online. This age student wants to grow up quickly and often wants to sign up for sites that require that they be 13 years old.
- Netsmartz has a great site that focuses on Internet Safety. Here's the Parent's Page.
- Intermediate school students are just learning HOW to research. They don't always know what to search for and they expect the answer to question 1 to be in the first paragraph of the first site. Helping them learn how to find information, even if it isn't a school related topic, will help them a lot in their school career.
