Hello My Name Is...
Welcome to My Classroom
This is my inaugural year at KIS and my second year teaching dance in public schools! I graduated from UNCG in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and just graduated in May with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Education from UNCC. I have been choreographing professionally in a local dance studio for six years. I also have a Musical Theatre background, performing and choreographing in numerous productions over the last couple years. I have been the recipient of multiple Choreography and costume awards at the Regional and National level. What I love most about dance education is that dance becomes attainable to everyone. Throughout the semester, students will be exposed to dance as an art form that promotes growth of the child in a social, physical and emotional manner.
Feel free to contact me by email or by school phone at (704) 932-4161.

What We are Studying:
Students will be introduced to the elements of dance and how they are used as a foundation for dance education. They will learn multiple styles of dance including jazz, hip hop, modern, and social dances.
"Dance has existed since the beginning of humankind. Before verbal or written communication existed, humans used movement to communicate and to help them comprehend, shape, and make meaning of their world....Through dance, students come to appreciate rich and diverse cultures, beliefs, and societies. Dance helps people connect with one another and exists in all cultures and places."
